Description
Three-way ball valves are designed for applications that require controlling multiple flow paths. With three ports, they can manage media from more than one source or divert flow in different directions. Depending on the configuration, the ports can serve as either one inlet with two outlets, or two inlets with one outlet.
These valves can be operated manually or automated using electric or pneumatic actuators. The flow pattern is determined by the bore design of the ball, which comes in two types: L-port and T-port.
Typical functions of three-way ball valves include:
Shut-off – stopping flow completely
Switching – directing flow between two sources
Mixing – combining flow from two sources
Alternating – sending flow to different destinations
Diverting – rerouting flow from one source to another outlet
Splitting – distributing flow from one source into two outlets
